Aviation Lover’s Home
Based in Newton, our company has been serving Wichita and surrounding towns for many years. Our company founder lived in the city limits of Newton for the first five years of his marriage, previously living here for about five years before that. Our founder has purchased, renovated and sold approximately a dozen homes in the area. In addition, our founder was on a local Planning Commission for about 5 years, has sat on a non-profit board as well as the Code Review Board for several years.
As a leading Home Builder in the area, we are excited to share this recent Aviators’ Home we built at the Benton Airport.
The house and hanger share the driveway. It was designed to allow aircraft to come and go without being too tight.

Informed Decisions About Building A Home
At Heritage Home Works, we understand that this is a big project; there is a lot of information out there, and it can be difficult to make sense of it. One of the things we enjoy most about what we do is the opportunity to educate homeowners so they can make the most informed decisions about building a new home. We are proud to share all the considerations we take even when building an Aviator’s Home such as the one you see here. Our goal is to ensure you know we made the best decisions for your home and family. For this specific project, the homeowners went first to a reputable local design and drafting company based in Wichita, then brought Heritage Home Works the plans. We typically draw the homes we build, as we can modify in real time with the homeowner instead of waiting for adjustments in between meetings. But this still worked out well for us having the plans drawn up with another firm. So here we show the design plans for the first floor, second floor and basement.

You Have Landed
Upon arriving at the airport, the home owner will park their airplane in the hanger and is met with this beautiful front entrance.
Open & Spacious
Upon entering the home you will see a large living area with 2nd floor balcony looking out over the living area. In the background is an electric fireplace with masonry facade going to the 2 story ceiling.

Easy Transition
Stepping forward brings into view the kitchen from the living room. There is a large island with seating for enjoying the fireplace and providing easy communication with the kitchen.
Beautiful & Functional
Here is the kitchen with custom made cabinets. The raised dishwasher on the end allows loading without bending over. And the wall oven is low enough to be accessible to a wheelchair.

Backing away provides a view of the open stair well going to the 2nd floor.

The Next Level
Arriving at the loft area shows plenty of room on each end for sitting, and book cases for storage. Identical to the 1st floor, the door faces the runway providing easy access to watching the planes come and go.
Unique Setting
The 2nd floor master bedroom allows looking to the east and south, provide a good view of the runway.

Staying Refreshed
The 2nd floor master bathroom has custom cabinets, tile-inlay in the Onyx shower surround, and a private water closet.
Outdoor Living
The exterior is uniquely defined when living at an airport. Not only can we walk around the majority of the house, but everything up here mirrors the main floor. Then we go high in the sky to view the back showing the hangers and runway in the background.
